University embraces ancient wisdom in its SDG programmes

          A higher education institution in Bangkok has adopted a uniquely Thai approach to teaching development economics and environmental management based on concepts derived from Buddhist philosophy and introduced by the late King Bhumibhol Adulyadej.

 

          Often known as the ‘development king’ during his 70-year reign, which ended with his death in 2016, King Bhumibhol presided over some 4,000 development projects initiated by the monarchy throughout the kingdom. As the 21st century dawned, his development strategy known as Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) became the hallmark of sustainable development efforts in the country.

Effects of organisational crisis on employees’ work attitudes: evidence from a private organisation in Thailand

Abstract

          The objective of this research was to investigate the effects of organisational crisis on employees' perceived uncertainty and clarity about organisational goals, interdepartmental integration, and organisational commitment. The study also explored whether employee involvement might buffer the adverse situations that employees experienced because of the crisis. The study focused on a crisis faced by a private organisation in Thailand.

The mediating effect of corporate culture on the relationship between business model innovation and corporate social responsibility: A perspective from small-and medium-sized enterprises

Electronic Waste Recycling Business: Solution, Choice, Survival

Abstract: 

          This study aimed to investigate factors impacting the electronic waste management in Thailand and recommend guidelines to drive the electronic waste recycling business in the country. The study used the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a conceptual framework. The in-depth interview was carried out using the semi-structured interview with the target agencies including government agencies, local administrative organizations, establishments related to electronic waste management (Factories in categories 105 and 106) as well as community junk shops in Chatuchak District, Bangkok.

Abstract

          This  qualitative  research  investigates  public  administration  based  on  the  Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) of Thai public agencies in central and regional areas. Triangulation was adopted to collect both primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from in-depth interviews of top and middle management, focus-group discussions, and written answers to related questions from  middle  management,  supervisors,  and  staff  from  45  agencies  under  the  Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

Abstract

          Purpose – This research examines the effect of cultural intelligence (CQ) of top management on pro-diversity climates and perceived discrimination of the Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand. This research also analyzes the effect of perceived discrimination on job satisfaction and turnover intention of the Myanmar migrant workers. Design/methodology/approach – The data were collected from 650 Myanmar migrant workers who are employed at two factories in Thailand.

Abstract

          Purpose – This research investigates whether and how the quality of vertical communication implemented by airline industry management can reduce perceived job insecurity of flight attendants during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Design/methodology/approach – The sample of this research covers 322 flight attendants from five domestic airlines based in Thailand. An online questionnaire survey was used for data collection, and a partial least squares structural equation model was used for data analysis.

Abstract 

          This study utilized the Kano model to practically identify the key attributes of online service quality of e-learning education companies. Along with a review of theoretical sources related to service quality, this paper placed similar attributes into the same cluster and finalized four constructs, i.e., reliability, responsiveness, competence, and engagement.

Abstract 

          This research examines the benefits of host language proficiency of Chinese expatriates working in Thailand. Host language proficiency is conceptualized in terms of linguistic and communicative competence. Anchored on social identity theory, this study tests whether the host language proficiency of Chinese expatriates affects their work engagement and to what extent host country nationals (HCN) support plays a mediating role.
