Abstract

          Computational journalism, especially social media analysis, is a very popular field in computational science. This study was conducted to explore and analyze the impact of the intensity of the exposure to social media on young Thai adults' body images and attitudes toward plastic surgery. The purposive sampling method was used for choosing 250 young Thai men and women aged 21 to 40 who used Facebook and/or Instagram on a regular basis.

A Deep Learning Based Road Distress Visual Inspection System Using Modified U-Net

Abstract

          Nowadays the number of vehicles on road is increasing incrementally in emerging countries, and there is a need for proactive road health inspection methods that allow non-laborious and frequent road inspection with reasonable cost. Because of the nature of cheap and non-intrusive, vision-based road analysis has become a very popular topic in vision-based civil engineering researches around the world. In this paper, we discuss recent vision-based road distress detection methods, including our previous work and our presented work, for road distress visual inspection.

Cohort Difference in job environments: the mediating and self-spirituality

Abstract

          This paper aims to examine the effect of mindful leadership on employees' self-spirituality, and the mediating effect of organizational identification, and the moderating effect of cohort differences in machinery companies. This study collected data from three different periods. The result demonstrated that organizational identification mediated between mindful leadership and employees' self-spirituality, which boosted to deliver the peculiarity and attractiveness of their hardworking regarding personal capability.

Destination Personality: A Dimensions Analysis and A New Scale Development in Thailand

Abstract

Purpose

          This study aims to empirically develop a new destination personality scale (DPS) for Thailand.

Design/methodology/approach

          To fill the previous gaps in the existing literature, this research study used a more concise destination personality definition consisting of human personality traits only, a variety of more than 100 destination stimuli covering 12 categories of tourist destinations including many urban cities across the country, a mix of sample groups (domestic and international tourists) that proportionally represent tourist population visiting the country and mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) approaches.

Abstract

          In the post-pandemic era, the application of MOOC is essential to improve the quality and flexibility of higher education. This study aims to explore how factors from personal, environmental, and social level influence learners’ engagement and knowledge sharing in the context of hybrid MOOC (hMOOC) learning. Through random sampling, this study adopted a self-administered questionnaire to survey undergraduate students in China based on structural equation modeling (SEM).

Factors in enhancing environmental governance for marine plastic litter abatement in Manila, the Philippines: A combined structural equation modeling and DPSIR framework

Abstract

          This empirical study examines the factors enhancing environmental governance for marine plastic litter abatement in Manila, the Philippines. We use a combined covariance-based hybrid structural equation modeling (SEM) and DPSIR framework, with data collected via an online survey from 456 barangays in Manila, the Philippines. The survey was processed and analyzed using a combined model, validated through interviews and focused group discussions.

Unusual-Event Processs for Count Data

Abstract

          At least one unusual event appears in some count datasets. It will lead to a more concentrated (or dispersed) distribution than the Poisson, gamma, Weibull, Conway-Maxwell-Poisson (CMP), and Faddy (1997) models can accommodate. These well-known count models are based on the monotonic rates of interarrival times between successive events.Under the assumption of non-monotonic rates and independent exponential interarrival times, a new class of parametric models for unusual-event (UE) count data is proposed. These models are applied to two empirical applications, the number of births and the number of bids, and yield considerably better results to the above well-known count models.

Abstract

          Over the past few years, burning agricultural or crop residues has resulted in serious air pollution, particularly in northern Thailand. In this study, constant endeavours were made to achieve the first-hand emission factors (EFs) of water-soluble ionic species (WSIS), organic carbon, elemental carbon, and selected metals emitted from the combustion of 17 plant species.

          Although the growth of social media has changed the way employees communicate at work, our understanding of the related workplace dynamics, particularly in public organizations, is still embryonic. This study fills these research gaps by testing hypotheses, drawn from social cognitive theory and social capital theory, using two sets of data on social media usage patterns and workplace practices among public employees.

Deep Learning Based Gesture Classification for Hand Physical Therapy Interactive Program

Abstract

           In this paper, we propose using the Google Colab deep learning framework to create and train convolutional neural networks from scratch. The trained network is part of a core artificial intelligent feature of our interactive software game, aiming to encourage white-collar workers to exercise hands and wrists frequently through playing the game. At this moment, the network is trained with our self-collected dataset of 12,000 bare-hand gesture images shot against a static dark background.
